UMGD Displays Video, Live Performances At NARM
May 06, 2008 - Retail

By Ed Christman, San Francisco

At the 50th anniversary convention of the National Assn. of Recording Merchandisers, the Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD) kept alive the product presentation, an extravaganza that was well attended by conventioneers.

Kicking off the second day (May 5) of the convention, UMGD started the ball rolling with a video clip celebrating the 50th anniversary of Motown Records, capped off by a live performance by the Temptations.

Interweaving videos from current and upcoming albums with live performances, the 90-minute presentation moved along at a brisk pace. When all was said and done, the convention had enjoyed performances by country act One Flew South, Fantasy/Concord act the Gabe Dixon Band, jazz-tinged Esperanza Spalding, rock act Ludo and hard rock group Rev Theory.

Also, the company’s video said that before the year is over, expect albums from artists including David Banner, 3 Doors Down, Lil Wayne, Nelly, Ashanti, Kem, Girlicious, the Fratellis, Weezer, G-Unit, Beck, Keane, the Cure, Eminem, U2 and Dr. Dre, as well as the soundtrack for “High School Musical 3.”
