GigMaven.com, a free Web site that enables artists to find and book their own concerts dates, has launched in beta format.
GigMaven allows artists to create profiles, where they can post music and search for opening slots at venues. In addition to artist searches, the site allows venue talent buyers to list avails and browse for touring bands.
Approximately 1,500 acts have already signed up to the site, with 10-20 more being added daily, according to GigMaven founder/CEO Howard Han. Approximately 20 of the acts using GigMaven are signed to independent record labels.
GigMaven currently lists about 20 smaller venues in such markets as New York (Knitting Factory, the Bitter End), Columbus (Ruby Tuesday Bar, Gordy's) and Philadelphia (the Nail, Millcreek Tavern).
