Briefs: Jack White, U2, Spotify
July 06, 2009 - Digital and Mobile

By Antony Bruno, Denver

-- Jack White's record label Third Man Records is introducing a subscription content service to fans. The offer contains two tiers. The $7 a month option for access to first shot at concert tickets, exclusive streaming content, chat rooms and pay-per-view concert performances. The $20 option adds quarterly release of exclusive content and merch.
Third Man Records is home to White's various projects, such as The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs and The White Stripes, as well as Mildred and the Mice, Rachelle Garniez and Dex Romweber Duo.

-- Part and parcel with its sponsorship of U2's world tour, BlackBerry maker Research In Motion is planning to offer a U2 "mobile album." Exactly what that means is not yet clear, as details remain pending, but the company over the holiday weekend launched a teaser Web site promoting the offer.

-- Spotify recently told Billboard it had enough funding to sustain operations for 18 months, but according to various reports the company is bulking up its war chest in preparation for a U.S. launch. According to the Times Online, the company is seeking between $40-$50 million in new funding, at a valuation of close to $325 million.
