Court Rules In Favor In WMG Chairman Bronfman
November 23, 2009 - Legal and Management

By Chris M. Walsh, N.Y.

Warner Music Group chairman Edgar Bronfman Jr. scored another legal victory on Monday.

The New York State Court of Appeals upheld a previous court ruling dismissing a $100 million lawsuit filed against Bronfman two years ago by Simon & Schuster's former CEO Richard Snyder, according to the New York Times.

Snyder claimed he helped conceive the 2003 buyout of Warner but was never compensated, and filed suit April 23, 2007. Snyder said he helped Bronfman negotiate the $2.6 billion purchase of Warner Music from Time Warner Inc., but was never paid for his services.

Snyder said Bronfman had broken a gentlemen's agreement to share proceeds from the deal, which was made during a vacation with their families in 2001, according to a 44-page lawsuit filed at the Supreme Court of the State of New York County, according to Reuters.
