EMI Music Publishing has appointed Brian Monaco as COO of its music resources unit, which works with brands and businesses to help them connect with their consumers through the power of music.
Monaco joins the publisher from Worldwide Talent Group, the sports and entertainment talent agency that he founded in July 1995.
In his new role, Monaco will be spearheading new business development and customer relationship management for the publisher. Based in New York, he reports jointly to EMI Music Publishing Global COO Leo Corbett and senior VP of music resources Keith D'Arcy.
"Music is at the heart of a rapidly increasing number of strategic marketing initiatives, and it is our duty to our songwriters to ensure that we take full advantage of the opportunity that exists," says Leo Corbett, EMI MP global COO. "Brian's experience of brand marketing and leading a sales-driven organization will be invaluable to us as we continue to ensure that we focus on meeting the unique needs of the commercial users of music."
Monaco began his career in public relations before moving into talent management with Connecticut-based agency International Talent Associates. In 1995, along with fellow agent Karen Meizels, he set up Worldwide Talent Group as a full-service talent agency specializing in celebrity personal appearances, lectures and print campaigns.
In addition to his role at WTG, Monaco has been a consultant to the corporate events division of Dallas-based Freeman Companies, securing deals with brands including Intel, American Express, Boeing and Anheuser Busch.
