Harcourt Named Editor At LA Times Magazine
December 10, 2008

By Chris M. Walsh, N.Y.

Former KCRW music director Nic Harcourt has been named editor at large, music and culture, at LA, Los Angeles Times Magazine.

Harcourt will contribute a monthly column, "Listen Up," which will feature a playlist, picks for upcoming local shows and events and Q&As with emerging artists. His first column is set to debut Feb. 8, in LA's January/February double Oscar issue.

"LA has distinguished itself from other magazines with its highly personalized content that looks at the city of Los Angeles from a different perspective," said Harcourt in a statement. "I look forward to working with the talented LA team and sharing my point of view with the LA readers."

Harcourt was the longtime music director at the Santa Monica, Calif.-based station and host of its popular "Morning Becomes Eclectic" show. He stepped down from those roles last month to pursue other projects and was replaced by KCRW DJ Jason Bentley. Harcourt continues to host a three-hour show on Sunday evenings at the station.

LA is distributed monthly in the Los Angeles Times.
