Digital Briefs: Mozes, Qtrax, Imeem
May 14, 2008 - Digital and Mobile | Publishing

By Antony Bruno, Denver

- Mobile messaging marketing firm Mozes raised $11.5 million in second round financing from Maveron, Norwest Venture Partners, and North Bridge Venture Partners, according to a regulatory filing disclosed by peHUB. This follows a $5 million funding round last year. Mozes works closely with the music industry, allowing artists to create mobile fan clubs that allow them to send text message alerts to fans and let fans send messages to both their favorite artists and each other.

- Qtrax signed publisher Warner Chappell Music to a licensing deal for its slowly emerging ad-supported music service. This marks the last of the four major music publishers. Qtrax still has only one major label deal-Universal Music Group.

- Free streaming music service Imeem announced support for the OpenSocial initiative-a standard that allows applications developers to create widgets that will work across a number of participating social networking sites. This means Imeem can now create widget extensions that will work on other social networks, as well as allow other developers to create special applications for the Imeem social network.
