OiNK Rebounds As BOiNK
October 29, 2007 - Digital and Mobile

By Antony Bruno, Denver

Just days after the OiNK pirate music site was shut down by authorities, the Pirate Bay announced plans to relaunch the service with a new name and new domain, BOiNK.

The Pirate Bay was itself once shut down at the legal behest of the global music industry, but soon also relaunched. Former OiNK users will have to re-upload their file torrents to populate the servers, though, so it is questionable whether the torrent-tracking service will replicate the original OiNK's success.

"The most important thing about BOiNK is perhaps the message it sends out to the IFPI and the BPI," says a post on TorrentFreak announcing the move. "It shows that that if you stop one tracker, others will pop up days after. It is a hydra. Call it a slap in the face if you want."
