Motomusic Goes Live In India
June 18, 2008 - Global

By Nyay Bhushan, New Delhi

New Delhi-based Motorola India has launched its Motomusic music-download service, which offers more than 350,000 tracks and other content such as videos and wallpapers.

India thus becomes the second Asian market after China where Motorola has launched Motomusic.

Operated by digital-content aggregator Soundbuzz, which was purchased by Motorola in January, Motomusic is an over-the-air (OTA) service for mobile and regular net downloads. Ringtones and videos are priced at 19 rupees ($0.47) each.

The Motomusic Web site offers ringtones, videos, wallpapers and other content for dual delivery on PCs and mobiles. India's largest mobile operator, New Delhi-based Bharti Airtel, which claims 64 million subscribers, is the first telecom to offer Motomusic. Mumbai-based Soundbuzz India GM Mandar Thakur says deals with other operators will follow.
