Global Briefs: Arctic Monkeys, Machine Management, Warner/Biffy Clyro
November 09, 2009 - Global | Retail | Legal and Management

By Andre Paine, London

-- U.K. rock act Arctic Monkeys and their label Domino are again teaming with second-hand charity retailer Oxfam for the band's new vinyl single in the U.K. Oxfam said the first exclusive Arctic Monkeys release, the seven-inch single "Crying Lightning," moved 10,000 copies in Oxfam's 700 stores in the weeks after its Aug. 17 release.

The limited edition "Cornerstone" 10-inch vinyl release will go on sale in Oxfam's top 50 performing music stores on Nov. 16 and will feature that album track alongside new track "Catapult" and two b-sides. An MP3 download code will be included.

-- Phil Morias has left CEC Management for London-based Machine Management, whose clients include Mika, Alphabeat and Alex Gardner. Morias has taken the role of senior manager, effective Nov. 9, and will continue to manage Mercury Prize-nominated band Friendly Fires for Machine Management.

-- Warner Music U.K. has entered into an agreement with Dee Bahl of 1554 Management and manager of Scottish alt-rock act Biffy Clyro, to co-manage the band. Biffy Clyro released new set "Only Revolutions" (14th Floor Records) today (Nov. 9). Bahl will work in partnership with Nostromo, the management division of 14th Floor Records, on all aspects of the band's career.
