Unreleased Classical Catalogs To Get U.S. Push

October 23, 2008

By By Ed Christman, N.Y.

Alliance Import Services, a division of Alliance Entertainment LLC will serve as exclusive U.S. Distributor for about 1,500 titles from the classical music catalogs of Deutsche Grammophon, Phillips and Decca, all part of the Decca Label Group. The titles previously were unreleased in the US, or had been deleted from the US catalog.

Coral Springs, Fla.-based Alliance will work directly with the foreign affiliates of DLG, and will also serve as distributor for new releases from the foreign affiliates not designated for US release.

"We welcome the opportunity to offer our wholesale and retail customers the ability to market these CD's to US consumers who previously had to shop foreign Web sites to purchase these CD's at very high costs, Alliance Import Services managing director Adam Herko said in a statement. "We will be making these available at near domestic prices."

VP of AIS Alex Jimenez added, "One of the primary goals of AIS has been to secure the exclusive distribution rights for the multitude of physical product still available worldwide." Meanwhile, the Decca Label Group will continue to make these titles available to all download services.
