Spanish Soundtrack Download Store Launches

May 29, 2009

By By Howell Llewellyn, Madrid

Spain has its first digital a-la-carte store dedicated to movie soundtracks. The launch this week follows a deal signed by collecting society SGAE's digital division sDae, its associated content aggregator which houses the country's largest collection of indie repertory, La Central Digital, the association of audiovisual music composers Musimagen, and the federation of film and audiovisual composers of Europe, FFACE.

Through http://store.fface.org or store.musimagen.com in English, and tienda.musimagen.com in Spanish, customers can register free to receive a regular newsletter, and download soundtracks in MP3 format. Customers can listen to fragments of the work before downloading the entire soundtrack.

The service offers a digital sales point for Spanish and European soundtrack composers, and the new store is described as "a project that gives the protagonism and specialisation that this type of music deserves on the Internet."

It adds that the service will give special emphasis "to the figure of the composer, and not to that of the interpreter, as occurs in popular music."

FFACE was founded at the 2006 MIDEM trade fair to group together existing national bodies of soundtrack composers.
