Outkast MC Big Boi Eyes Ballet Debut

March 18, 2008

By By Hillary Crosley, N.Y.

Outkast MC Big Boi is partnering with the Atlanta Ballet for a performance called "Big."

The production will fuse the Atlanta Ballet's visual movements with Big Boi's music and will feature guest appearances by Sleepy Brown, Big Rube, Scar, Joi Killiam, Khujo Goodie and Bad Boy's newest artist, Janelle Monae.

The show will interweave new and unreleased music from Big Boi with Giuseppe Verdi's "La Traviata." The piece runs April 10-13 at Atlanta's Fox Theatre and following opening night, Big Boi's Big Kidz Foundation and the Atlanta Ballet Centre For Dance Education will hold a fundraiser hosted by the MC and Queen Latifah.

Founded in 1929, Atlanta Ballet is the longest, continuously operating ballet company in the United States. In other news, Big Boi is currently recording his first as-yet-untitled solo album.

Outkast's last release, 2006's "Idlewild" film soundtrack, has sold 508,000 copies to-date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
