By By Marcelo Fernandez Bitar, Buenos Aires

Celebrated Argentine rock trio Soda Stereo announced a reunion tour that will hit Latin America and the United States this fall.

Rumors of a Soda Stereo reunion have been gaining momentum in the last few months, but the band, which split in 1997, officially confirmed the reunion tour via press release Saturday (June 9).

The trek will begin Oct. 19-20 in Buenos Aires, and continue to Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City. The tour then goes to Ecuador (Quito or Guayaquil), Bogota, Santiago de Chile, Lima, Caracas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and New York.

Ticket sales began June 10 through Ticketek. Pop Art, Triple Producciones and Cuatro K are jointly promoting the concerts. Sponsors include Sony Ericsson and wireless carrier Personal.

During the last decade, frontman Gustavo Cerati began a successful solo career, bass player Zeta Bosio signed new rock artists as A&R at Sony and then opened his own company, Alerta Discos. Drummer Charly Alberti created an Internet portal and recently recorded with his new band, Mole.
