Daddy Yankee Eyes New Distro Deal

October 26, 2009

By By Leila Cobo, Miami

Reggaet?n star Daddy Yankee is in the process of negotiating a new distribution deal, sources confirm.

Yankee's albums, which he releases on his own El Cartel Records, have long been distributed by Universal Music Video Distribution, but that deal expired earlier this year. The negotiations include Universal and, sources say, and Sony.

The artist is expected to release his new album, "Mundial," early next year. The album's release was delayed from this fall because of the distribution negotiations.
