By By Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

-Liberman Broadcasting has purchased its eighth TV station, this time in Denver. KWHD Channel 53 (digital channel 46) will begin broadcasting Liberman?s Spanish-language Estrella TV network ?as early as the second quarter 2010,? according to a Liberman news release. The Denver purchase puts Estrella TV in 20 of the top 25 Hispanic markets.

Meanwhile, Spanish Broadcasting System's Mega TV has entered the New York broadcast and cable market via Rise Television's WRNN channel 48.2, Time Warner Cable channel 92 and Verizon Fios channel 466.

-The Associated Press and Univision Communications have partnered with Stanford University and the Nielsen Co. to survey 2000 Hispanics nationwide on their media use, cultural identity and political attitudes. The poll will be accessible to both bilingual and Spanish-only respondents and will focus on the effects of the economic downturn as well as Hispanics? experiences with the American education system. The results will be reported in May by AP via Univision?s multimedia platforms. Ceril Shagrin, Univision?s executive VP of corporate research, said the network would use the information in its mission of ?informing, entertaining and empowering? Hispanics and to guide ?partners? (i.e., advertisers) on how to best reach U.S. Hispanics.
