Shakira's "She Wolf" Gets Nov. 23 U.S. Release Date

October 21, 2009

Shakira's "She Wolf" album will be released in the U.S. on Nov. 23, more than a month after its release in Europe and Latin America.

The U.S. date for the Epic release had been Oct. 13, but a new Timbaland-produced single with Shakira and Lil Wayne, "Give It Up To Me," has been added to "She Wolf" for U.S. release. Single "She Wolf" hit No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 for combined airplay and downloads, but peaked at No. 17 on the multi-format Hot 100 airplay chart. Spanish-language single "Loba" was No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart and is No. 2 this week.

"She Wolf" was released Oct. 9 in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, Holland and Switzerland. The album was released Oct. 12 in the UK, France, the rest of Europe and Latin America, with subsequent releases in Spain, Japan and Australia.

Shakira may be looking for a "Hips Don't Lie"-sized hit to drive her new album in the States. Two-thirds of U.S. sales of Shakira's "Oral Fixation, Vol. 2" album came after the smash with Wyclef Jean, "Hips Don't Lie," was added on, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

"She Wolf" is No. 2 this week on Billboard's European Top 100 albums chart. On its own, the "Loba" maxi-single hit No. 19 on Mexico's album sales charts.
