Johnny Reid Wins 5 CCMA Awards

Ontario singer Johnny Reid took five awards, including male artist of the year, at the Canadian Country Music Association awards in Vancouver last night (Sept. 13).

Reid's other wins included video of the year, fans' choice award, songwriter of the year and album of the year for "Dance With Me." Reid, 35, was born in Scotland and moved to Canada when he was a teenager.

Manitoba group Doc Walker took home group of the year, while Crystal Shawanda, from Ontario, won female artist of the year. Tara Oram was the winner of the rising star award. British Columbia's Dean Brody won single of the year for "Brothers." Cord Lund took home the prize for roots artist or group of the year.

The awards show was broadcast by the CBC and hosted by former Beverly Hills 90210 actor Jason Priestly. Doc Walker, Reid, Paul Brandt and Terri Clark were among those who performed. American stars Reba McEntire and Martina McBride also performed.
