Tego Calderon Shops Distro Deal, Plans Next Album

June 25, 2009

By By Ayala Ben-Yehuda, L.A.

Tego Calderon is recording his yet-untitled album under his Jiggiri label and plans to release it before the end of the year, the urban star tells Billboard. Calderon says his label, formerly a JV with Atlantic, is now fielding distribution offers from majors for the release, which he expects to drop around November.

Calderon says he's recorded a duet with singer-songwriter Kany Garcia for his album, as well as one for hers. For Calderon's next album, "I don't have it mind to collaborate with anyone in my genre," he says, adding that he wanted "more of a female presence" on the next set.

Acting is also keeping Calderon busy, with the artist set to reprise his "Fast & the Furious" role in the fifth installment of the movie, set to begin filming in Brazil soon.
