Súper Estrella Network Is No More

January 08, 2009

By By Jackie Madrigal, Radio & Records

Entravision Radio has gotten rid of Latin CHR network S?per Estrella in favor of Spanish-language Jack-type format "Jos?," the company officially announced. The PD is Andrea Becerra.

With the addition of the S?per Estrella network stations ? KJMN/Denver; KXSE/Sacramento; KRRN/Las Vegas; KSEH/El Centro, Calif-Yuma, Ariz.; KSES/Salinas, Calif.; KLOB/Palm Springs, Calif.; and KTSE/Modesto, Calif. ? the Spanish-language adult contemporary hits "Jos?" is now airing on 18 stations.

"We are having tremendous success with Jos?, and this initiative is aimed at bringing this popular format to a greater audience," said Entravision Radio president Jeffery Liberman. "We broke new ground when we launched Jos?, and our team has done a great job developing Jos? into a compelling format that transcends geographies and stays fresh and relevant to today's Hispanic listeners. We are confident that Jos? will be a welcome addition to these new markets."

R&R has also learned that additional personnel cuts have come as a result of this change and the morning show change at the company's now lone CHR outlet, KSSE (S?per Estrella)/Los Angeles. Among them, morning show producer-jock El Diablito exited after 12 years at the station.
