Jazz great McCoy Tyner’s new project is a CD/DVD combination titled “Guitars,” released Sept. 23 via McCoy Tyner Music/Half Note Records.
Guitarists Bill Frisell, Derek Trucks, John Scofield, Marc Ribot and banjoist Bela Fleck join pianist Tyner along with bassist Ron Carter and drummer Jack DeJohnette.
The DVD portion of the package features multiple-angle viewing capability. Tyner, who turns 70 on Dec. 11, will be feted during a weeklong celebration at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Manhattan.
