Ana Isabelle Wins Univision's Reality Show Competition
November 23, 2009 - Latin

By Leila Cobo, Miami

Puerto Rican singer Ana Isabelle was voted the winner of Univision network's reality music competition "Viva el Sueño." The 13-week show, whose grand finale aired Nov. 22, pitted 14 contestants vying for a grand prize of $200,000.

In a twist, all contestants on "Viva" were acts who already had record deals, many with major labels. Ana Isabelle, who is signed to Universal Music Latino, will release a new album, "Mi Sueño," in February. A first single, "Por Amarte Así," went to radio Monday. The track is a remake of a hit song originally recorded by Cristian Castro, who was brought in this time around to record it in a new duet version with Ana Isabelle. "Mi Sueño" will feature other covers of older hits, including "A Puro Dolor" and "Se Me Va La Vida."

Ana Isabelle is not the only contestant seeking to reap benefits from the weekly exposure on the show. Cristina, signed to Universal sister label Fonovisa, also released a new single today, "Mucha Mujer Para Ti."

"Viva el Sueño" consistently landed among the 20 most-viewed Spanish language TV shows during its 13-week run. A second season is planned for 2010. The show was produced by Cisco Suárez, who also produces the Latin Grammys and reality show "Nuestra Belleza Latina."
