Adam Lambert's "GMA" Performance Cancelled Over AMAs Flap November 24, 2009

In the wake of Adam Lambert's controversial performance Sunday night at the American Music Awards, ABC has cancelled the singer's scheduled appearance on tomorrow's (Nov. 25) broadcast of "Good Morning America."
Lambert was set to once again perform the lead single and title track from his just-released album, "For Your Entertainment," on the national morning show. However, Rolling Stone reports that ABC has now decided not to risk a repeat of his American Music Awards performance, during which the "American Idol" runner-up thrust a dancer's head into his crotch and kissed a male keyboardist.
"Given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning," a network spokesperson told the publication.
Since the AMAs broadcast, ABC has received an estimated 1,500 complaints from viewers taking offense to Lambert's S&M-themed performance. Dick Clark Productions, which produces the awards show, has also confirmed to Billboard.biz that the number's raciest moments were unplanned and did not occur during rehearsals.
Lambert, however, has steadfastly defended the performance. "Female performers have been doing this for years -- pushing the envelope about sexuality -- and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out," the singer told Rolling Stone backstage at the AMAs. "My goal was not to piss people off, it was to promote freedom of expression and artistic freedom.
Lambert already has another gig lined up to replace "Good Morning America"; he'll perform on CBS' "The Early Show" tomorrow morning.
