Jazz Briefs: Return To Forever, Spyro Gyra March 13, 2009

-Legendary jazz-rock fusion band Return to Forever is the focus of two upcoming Eagle Rock Entertainment releases. The two-CD live recording, “Return to Forever Returns,” drops March 17. Coming May 12 is “Live at Montreux” in both DVD and Blu-Ray versions.
Both projects spring from Return to Forever’s 2008 concert tour of North America and Europe—the group’s first tour in 25 years. Reuniting for the 54-concert series were keyboardist Chick Corea, bassist Stanley Clarke, guitarist Al Di Meola and drummer Lenny White.
-“Down the Wire” is the title of the new Spyro Gyra album coming April 28 from Heads Up International/Concord Music Group. It’s the follow-up to the group’s 2007 Grammy Award-nominated outing, “Good to Go-Go.” Spyro Gyra’s 2008 holiday release, “A Night Before Christmas,” also earned a Grammy nod for best pop instrumental album.
