Wipperman Claims Presidency At Equity
August 07, 2008 - Country

By Ken Tucker, Nashville

Music Row veteran Tim Wipperman, who has served as chief creative officer since 2004, has been named president of Nashville-based independent Equity Music Group.

Wipperman, who spent 29 years at Warner/Chappell Music, assumes the role from exiting GM and interim president Derek Simon. Simon, who stepped in when former president Mike Kraski exited last year, will leave the label August 16 in pursuit of new opportunities.

"Since Tim joined our team in 2004, Equity has been blessed with amazing talent," Clint Black, co-founder of the label, said in a press release. "His creative touch and respect within the music community has enabled the label to attract some amazing talent and unique opportunities."

The label's roster includes Carolina Rain, Kevin Fowler, Laura Bryna, Blake Wise and Black.

Wipperman currently serves on the Country Music Association board of directors, the board of governors for the National Academy of Recording Arts and on the Country Music Foundation's board of trustees.
