- Stand-up comedian Carlos Mencia will launch an 80-city tour, beginning July 26 at Morrison, Colo.'s Red Rocks Amphitheater. The trek -- dubbed Bud Light Presents Carlos Mencia: At Close Range -- is being produced by Live Nation and Icon Entertainment. Tickets for the tour go on sale tomorrow (May 16) via livenation.com. The jaunt visits primarily theaters and auditoriums.
- U.K. electro-pop act Hot Chip has announced 15 North American concert dates that will coincide with its appearance at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival, set for the Texas city's Zilker Park from Sept. 26-28. In support of its most recent album, "Made in the Dark," the British group will play two-night stands from Sept.-Oct. in Los Angeles (Wiltern Theatre), Chicago (Metro/Smart Bar) and New York (Terminal 5). Hot Chip, booked by Chicago-based The Windish Agency, drew an overwhelming crowd to its set at this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The band's upcoming North American gigs are sandwiched between numerous festival and concert appearances throughout Europe and the United Kingdom.
- Louisiana artists Porter Batiste Stoltz, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Henry Butler and the Game Band, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, among others, will perform at the new "Somethin' Else -- New Orleans" site at this year's seventh annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, to be held June 12-15 in Manchester, Tenn. Modeled after New Orleans music clubs Preservation Hall, Tipitina's and the Maple Leaf, Bonnaroo festival-goers will be asked to give a donation upon entrance to "Somethin' Else." Proceeds will support a number of New Orleans charities, according to the festival producers Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment.
