Robert Plant To Play Cancer Research Benefit
February 03, 2010 - Global | Rock and Pop

By Crystal Bell, London

Robert Plant is coming out in support of Cancer Research U.K. at its fifth annual Sound & Vision charity gig, where the former Led Zeppelin frontman will perform at London's Abbey Road Studios on Feb. 25.

Plant's set will feature American singer-songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman and the London Oriana Choir. U.K. singer-songwriters David Gray and Newton Faulkner will also perform at the event.

Sound & Vision is offering fans the chance to bid for tickets to the sold-out show via its eBay site (www.soundandvisionebay.com). VIP tickets will include a chance to meet the night's performers.

Sound & Vision is also auctioning a range of music memorabilia, including a Gibson guitar signed by all members of the Prodigy, a drumskin autographed by the Kaiser Chiefs, and handwritten lyrics from acts including Tori Amos, Doves and Mumford and Sons.

During the show, the audience will be able to view and bid on a Robert Plant memorabilia package, including iconic images from his time with Led Zeppelin and a platinum disc for "Raising Sand" (Rounder) - his Grammy-award winning collaboration with Alison Krauss.

Host of the event, AC network BBC Radio 2 presenter Bob Harris, is a Sound & Vision patron alongside Sir George Martin.
